Chocolate Cherry Smoothie

Chocolate Cherry Smoothie

Who doesn't love chocolate for breakfast? This has been on repeat in the rotation lately and I am LIVING for it. I like to think of it as a festive breakfast for Valentine's season and the best way to get your chocolate fix before noon.
In addition to being delicious, this smoothie is super hormone supportive! It's blood sugar balancing with lots of fiber, healthy fats, and protein, and loaded with micronutrients that your hormones will love. Flax meal, ginger, brazil nuts, and polyphenols, oh my!
This recipe utilizes frozen zucchini. If you're freezing it yourself, make sure to steam before freezing. This pre-cooking will make it much easier for you to digest! This also goes for frozen cauliflower or riced cauliflower if you're using it in smoothie recipes. Steam first, freeze second.
I topped this one with a homemade morning glory muffin (recipe adapted from Paleo Running Momma) for some added flavored texture and to make sure that I CHEW. Chewing is super important for optimizing digestion so adding toppings to your smoothie is a fun way to remind yourself to use those chompers. I like to use cereal, pomegranate seeds, nuts, or crumbled-up low sugar baked goods.
Do yourself a favor and make this one ASAP!
